On September 19, 2026, Vijana Africa hosted a community gathering exploring “What Does It Mean to Invest in Peace?” at Eastern Mennonite University’s Discipleship Center in Harrisonburg, Virginia — ahead of the United Nations International Day of Peace, observed each year on September 21. The gathering connected our peacebuilding work in the DRC with a wider community conversation about peace.

Community participation and table organizations, confirmed by our own records, included Kiota Global, Eastern Mennonite University’s Center for Justice and Peacebuilding, the FairField Center, the Congolese Community of Harrisonburg, Skyline Literacy, and the Shenandoah Valley Advocacy Team. Taking part does not make these organizations formal funding partners of Vijana Africa.
